Description
Plast-O-Matic Series PS high-flow pilot-operated solenoid valves are designed for automatic ON/OFF control of corrosive and aggressive liquids in applications requiring substantially higher flow capacity than conventional direct-acting solenoid valves. The normally-closed design provides positive shutoff and closes automatically in the event of electrical power failure.
The Series PS uses line pressure to assist valve operation and requires a minimum differential pressure of 5 PSI. When the solenoid is energized, the pilot valve opens and allows pressure above the diaphragm to vent downstream. Inlet pressure then lifts the diaphragm, opening the main valve for high-capacity flow. When power is removed, the pilot closes and inlet pressure reseats the diaphragm to shut the valve.
A PTFE bellows barrier-type dynamic seal isolates the operating mechanism and helps prevent fugitive emissions. Combined with rugged thermoplastic construction and no metal components in the wetted areas, the Series PS is suitable for compatible acids, caustics, solvents, chlorine solutions and other corrosive liquids.
Available from 1/2" through 3", with Cv values up to 80, the Series PS is particularly suitable for industrial chemical processing, water treatment and other applications requiring electrically operated high-flow chemical isolation.
